Where do I buy a domain?
- There are many places to choose from. The most popular being https://www.godaddy.com. Personally, we like https://domains.google/ as the pricing is similar but the platform is just easier/cleaner to use.
How long should my domain be?
- Keep your domain name shorter vs. longer
- Call it efficiency, laziness, or both - people don't want to type more than they have to when trying to find your website and/or when emailing you.
- Keeping your domain shorter will make it easier for your users to reach you.
- The top 10 websites in the world have on average 6.9 characters.
Consider buying potential misspellings of your domain
- Typosquatting is a pain in the a$$.
- Ask friends and family to write your potential domain, see if they get it right
- Lookout for singular vs. plural forms of your domain
- Check for words like "best, sucks, co, the, only" added to the front or end of your domain
Use keywords that people are looking for to find your business
Go with a .com address if possible as it is the most common and recognizable.
